Nestled in a wooded area of rich countryside, there is much to see and do here. You can picnic on the lawns or follow the tree trail through the parklands down to the Liffey and the glorious Mrs Siddens Temple. Now that the house is open again you can even take the tour of the fabulous restored interiors. Our favourite room is Lady Louisa’s print room. This is where she pasted all her favourite prints. Instead of posters of pop singers on her wall she had the likes of Rembrandt to look at!
We were there to provide our mouthwatering treats to those who had come along to the monthly Country Market & Craft Fair. Stalls set up in the courtyard and in front of the palladian columns selling natural soaps, flowers, handcrafted pottery and even ancient maps. Plenty to peruse. There was even some fine musical performances by a soprano on stage. Nothing like a bit of light opera with your crépes. Oooh we missed this space!
