St. Patrick's Day Festival 2022

After so many strange years it was fantastic to be back celebrating St Patrick’s Day Festival in Dublin once again.

This year we were delighted to be chosen by the Festival organisers to serve churros in the Irish Food Village. Set in the historic grounds of Collins Barracks Museum Courtyard this was the place to watch all the entertainment after the main parade on the 17th.

Everyone we have spoken to has been amazed by the way the festival was run this year and how it has been spread throughout the city. This allowed people to move about freely instead of congregating in the one location and overloading the city.  The teenagers headed to Custom House for the funfair. The wellness crowd stretched their bodies and minds on the grounds of the Law Society for the new Breathe Festival. Temple Bar was chockablock. The sun even came out, something which you can not always count on.

Collins Barracks was the place to be for families for the whole weekend. It had food stalls galore, plenty of picnic benches and entertainment going day and night in the two spiegeltents and the main arena. There was also old fashioned games and storytelling for the kiddies. We were flat out serving food, the atmosphere was fun and friendly and the weekend was absolutely amazing.

A lot of that was down to the performers that kept the crowds entertained. From our stall we could hear the soulful songs of Damien Dempsey, the stirring pipes of Scottish Pipe bands and the sheer happiness of the Rathfarnham Ukelele Group. That was just the music. We could also see clowns and circus acts galore. It really was a welcome return and we hope that next year will be just as successful.
